Spring is just around the corner, and for many, that means escaping the indoors and basking in the beauty of the season. Kingdom Come State Park in Harlan County, Kentucky, is offering the perfect excuse to do just that, with the exciting addition of their very first rental cabin!
Kingdom Come Park Manager Sherry Cornett recently shared details about this highly anticipated addition. "We're thrilled to announce the transformation of the park residence into a beautiful cottage rental property," Cornett said. Nestled atop the park's highest point, the cabin boasts stunning panoramic views that are unmatched in any Kentucky state park.
"Imagine relaxing on the porch and watching the sunset paint the horizon," Cornett enthused. "This truly is a one-of-a-kind experience."
The completion date for the cabin is fast approaching. "Our goal is to have it ready by spring," Cornett explained. "We're currently at around 65-70% completion, with the drywall finished and cabinet installation underway. This week, we finalized selections for bedding, furniture, and flooring, which will be installed next week. Things are definitely moving quickly now!"
The exterior of the cabin is also nearing completion, with the siding approximately 90% finished and the roof already complete. "We're on track and might even be ahead of schedule," Cornett remarked.
This exciting project isn't stopping at just one cabin. "Our ultimate goal is to have three cabins available for rent," Cornett revealed. While the idea has been brewing for years, construction officially began in late fall.
The wait for these havens in the hills won't be much longer. "We're aiming for mid-spring completion, but it might even be a bit sooner," Cornett shared.
So, what can you expect inside this luxurious cabin? Comfort and functionality are key. "The cottage will feature two spacious bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a modern bathroom, and much more," Cornett described. "It will comfortably accommodate up to five guests, thanks to the multiple beds available."
But the real gem might be the outdoor space. "The cabin boasts a vaulted ceiling and a stunning patio, perfect for enjoying the breathtaking views," Cornett said. Nature lovers will rejoice at the cabin's location – right at the trailhead of the Pine Mountain Scenic Trail, one of Kentucky's most beautiful hiking destinations.
"The view from the cabin includes the Bullock Overlook, and you'll be just steps away from embarking on a memorable hike," Cornett added.
The timing of this cabin couldn't be better. "We have a variety of exciting events planned for the coming months," Cornett mentioned. "These include Black Light Mini Golf starting next month, a special Hippity Hop Easter celebration with a unique black light Easter egg hunt, the Raven Rock 5k race, and several cycling events happening in March and April."
So, pack your bags, lace up your hiking boots, and get ready to experience the magic of Kingdom Come State Park in a whole new way. With breathtaking views, modern amenities, and a prime location for outdoor adventures, the park's new rental cabin promises an unforgettable spring getaway.
